Mogharājamāṇavapucchā draft
Mogharājamāṇavapucchā. Mogharāja asks the Buddha how he should regard the world in order to escape death. The Buddha replies that the world should be regarded as empty (suññato) and one must get rid of the thought of self (attānudiṭṭhi) (Snp.vss.1116-19; the Buddha’s answer is quoted at Kv.p.64).
It is said that Mogharāja tried twice before to ask the question, once at the conclusion of the preaching of the Ajitasutta and again at the end of the recitation of the Tissametteyyasutta; but the Buddha, knowing that he was not yet ready for conversion, did not give him an opportunity (Snp.vs.1116; Snpa.ii.601f).
Mogharājamāṇavapucchā. Mogharāja hỏi Đức Phật ông nên nhìn nhận thế giới như thế nào để thoát khỏi cái chết. Đức Phật trả lời rằng nên nhìn nhận thế giới là trống rỗng (suññato) và người ta phải từ bỏ quan niệm về ngã (attānudiṭṭhi) (Snp.vss.1116-19; câu trả lời của Đức Phật được trích dẫn ở Kv.p.64).
Người ta kể rằng Mogharāja đã cố gắng hỏi câu hỏi này hai lần trước đó, một lần vào lúc kết thúc bài thuyết giảng Ajitasutta và một lần nữa vào cuối phần tụng đọc Tissametteyyasutta; nhưng Đức Phật, biết rằng ông vẫn chưa sẵn sàng để được hóa độ, đã không cho ông cơ hội (Snp.vs.1116; Snpa.ii.601f).
