Pupphathūpiya Thera. An Arahant. In the time of Vipassī Buddha he was a Brahmin ascetic on Kukkurapabbata with a large number of disciples. Hearing of the Buddha’s appearance in the world, he wished to visit him, but fell ill on the way. He thereupon erected a Thūpa of flowers in the Buddha’s name and died soon after.
Forty-four kappas ago he was king sixteen times under the name of Aggisama, and thirty-eight times under that of Ghatāsana. Ap.i.155f.
Pupphathūpiya Thera. Một vị Arahant. Vào thời của Vipassī Buddha, ông là một đạo sĩ Bà-la-môn trên núi Kukkurapabbata cùng với một số lượng lớn đệ tử. Khi nghe tin Đức Phật đã xuất hiện trên thế gian, ông mong muốn được đến viếng ngài, nhưng đã lâm bệnh trên đường đi. Do đó ông đã dựng lên một bảo tháp bằng hoa nhân danh Đức Phật và qua đời ngay sau đó.
Bốn mươi bốn kappa trước, ông làm vua mười sáu lần dưới tên gọi là Aggisama, và ba mươi tám lần dưới tên gọi là Ghatāsana. Ap.i.155f.
