Mahisamaṇḍala untranslated

Mahisamaṇḍala. v.l. Mahiṁsamaṇḍala. A country, converted by the Thera Mahā Deva, who preached there the Devadūtasutta (Mhv.xii.4, 29; Dpv. viii.5; Vin-a.i.63). The country is generally regarded as the modern Mysore. But see JRAS.1910, 429ff., where the author says that Māhissati was its capital and that it was an island in the Narbadā River; see also Mhv.Trs.84, n.5.
