Assapura untranslated
Assapura. A city in the kingdom of Aṅga. It was here that the Mahā Assapura and Cūḷa Assapura Suttas were preached by the Buddha (MN.i.271ff.; 281ff.; MNa.i.483).
According to the Cetiyajātaka, Assapura was built by the second of the five sons of King Upacara of Ceti, on the spot where he saw a pure white horse. It lay to the south of Sotthivatī, Upacara’s capital. Ja.iii.460.
