Hiraññavatī 02. A river, on the bank of which was the Upavattana Sālavana of the Mallas of Kusināra, where the Buddha died (DN.ii.137). It is identified with the Little Gandak; it flows through the district of Gorakhpur, about eight miles west of Great Gandak, and falls into the Gogrā, (Sarayū).
