Kāmasutta 01. The first of the Aṭṭhakavagga of the Suttanipāta The Buddha, seeing a Brahmin felling trees on the banks of the Aciravatī and preparing a field for corn, spoke to him. He spoke again to the Brahmin on several other occasions, when the latter was engaged in various operations in the field. The Brahmin, pleased by the Buddha’s courtesy, resolved to invite him to a meal when the harvest should be gathered. But the day before the reaping of the corn heavy rains fell, the river was flooded and the corn all washed away. The Buddha had foreseen that this would happen and visited the Brahmin to console him. It was on this last occasion that this Sutta was preached. At the end of the sermon the Brahmin became a Sotāpanna (Sn.vv.766-71; Snp-a.ii.511ff; Ja.iv.167f; cp. Dhpa.iii.284f; see also MNid.i.1ff). In the Kāmanītajātaka he is referred to as Kāmanīta Brāhmaṇa. Ja.ii.212.
Kāmasutta 01. Kinh đầu tiên của Aṭṭhakavagga thuộc Suttanipāta. Đức Phật, khi thấy một Bà-la-môn đang đốn cây trên bờ sông Aciravatī và chuẩn bị ruộng để trồng ngô, đã nói chuyện với ông ta. Ngài lại nói chuyện với vị Bà-la-môn vào một vài dịp khác, khi vị này đang bận rộn với nhiều công việc khác nhau trên ruộng. Vị Bà-la-môn, hài lòng với sự nhã nhặn của Đức Phật, đã quyết định sẽ mời ngài một bữa ăn khi mùa màng được thu hoạch. Nhưng một ngày trước khi gặt ngô, những cơn mưa lớn trút xuống, dòng sông ngập lụt và toàn bộ ngô bị cuốn trôi. Đức Phật đã thấy trước điều này sẽ xảy ra và đến thăm vị Bà-la-môn để an ủi ông ta. Chính trong dịp cuối cùng này mà bài kinh (Sutta) này đã được thuyết giảng. Vào cuối bài pháp, vị Bà-la-môn trở thành một bậc Dự lưu (Sotāpanna) (Sn.vv.766-71; Snp-a.ii.511ff; Ja.iv.167f; so sánh Dhpa.iii.284f; xem thêm MNid.i.1ff). Trong Kāmanītajātaka, ông ta được gọi là Bà-la-môn (Brāhmaṇa) Kāmanīta. Ja.ii.212.
