Meḷajina Thera draft
Meḷajina Thera. He belonged to a nobleman’s family of Benares, and, becoming distinguished in various branches of knowledge, visited the Buddha at Isipatana. There, gaining faith, he entered the Saṅgha, becoming an Arahant in due course.
Ninety-four kappas ago, in the time of Sumedha Buddha, he was a householder, and, seeing the Buddha begging for alms, gave him an āmoda-fruit. Thag.131f; Thaga.i.252f.
Meḷajina Thera. Ngài thuộc một gia đình quý tộc ở Benares, và, khi trở nên xuất chúng trong nhiều lĩnh vực tri thức khác nhau, đã đến thăm Đức Phật tại Isipatana. Ở đó, khởi sinh niềm tin, ngài đã gia nhập Tăng đoàn, đắc quả vị Arahant trong thời gian sau đó.
