Cāla Thera untranslated

Cāla Thera. Son of Cālā and nephew of Sāriputta. He was ordained by Khadiravaniya Revata (Thag.vs.42; Thīga.i.110).

He is mentioned as living at the Kūṭāgārasālā, which place he left when the Licchavīs caused disturbance by their visits to the Buddha (AN.v.133). In this context he is spoken of as a very eminent Elder and was, therefore, evidently an Arahant.
