Cūḷaccharāsaṅghātasutta draft
Cūḷaccharāsaṅghātasutta, Cūlaccharāsaṅghātasutta. If for just the duration of a finger-snap a monk indulges in a thought of goodwill and cultivates a thought of goodwill, he is verily to be called a monk. Earnestness, above all other things, encourages the arising of good states; indulgence, worst of all things, encourages evil states (AN.i.10).
It is said (ANa.i.40) that this Sutta was preached at Jetavana to counteract the effects of the Aggikkhandhopamasutta, which frightened many monks, causing them to revert to the lay life, the Saṅgha being thereby greatly impoverished in numbers. The present Sutta was designed to reassure those who were in doubt.
Cūḷaccharāsaṅghātasutta, Cūlaccharāsaṅghātasutta. Nếu chỉ trong một khoảnh khắc búng tay, một vị tỳ-kheo an trú trong một ý niệm về tâm từ và tu tập một ý niệm về tâm từ, thì vị ấy thực sự được gọi là một tỳ-kheo. Sự không phóng dật, vượt trên tất cả mọi thứ khác, khuyến khích sự phát sinh của các thiện pháp; sự buông lung, tồi tệ nhất trong tất cả mọi thứ, khuyến khích các ác pháp (AN.i.10).
Người ta nói rằng (ANa.i.40) Sutta này được thuyết tại Jetavana để chống lại những tác động của Aggikkhandhopamasutta, bài kinh đã làm nhiều tỳ-kheo sợ hãi, khiến họ hoàn tục trở lại đời sống cư sĩ, do đó Tăng đoàn đã bị suy giảm đáng kể về số lượng. Sutta này nhằm trấn an những ai đang còn nghi ngờ.
