Āḷavakasutta 01. Records the eight questions asked of the Buddha by Āḷavaka Yakkha and the answers given by the Buddha. It is said (Snp-a.i.228) that Āḷavaka’s parents had learnt the questions and their answers from Kassapa Buddha and had taught them to Āḷavaka in his youth; but he could not remember them and, in order that they might be preserved, he had them written on a gold leaf with red paint, and this he stored away in his palace. When the Buddha answered the questions he found that the answers were exactly the same as those given by Kassapa (Snp-a.i.231).
The Sutta appears both in Suttanipāta (pp.31-3) and in the Saṁyuttanikāya (i.213ff). The Āḷavakasutta is also included in the collection of Parittas.
Āḷavakasutta 01. Ghi lại tám câu hỏi mà Āḷavaka Yakkha hỏi Đức Phật và các câu trả lời do Đức Phật đưa ra. Có nói rằng (Snp-a.i.228) cha mẹ của Āḷavaka đã học các câu hỏi và câu trả lời ấy từ Kassapa Buddha và đã dạy chúng cho Āḷavaka khi vị ấy còn trẻ; nhưng vị ấy không thể nhớ chúng, và để chúng được bảo tồn, vị ấy cho viết chúng trên một lá vàng bằng sơn đỏ, rồi cất giữ trong cung điện của mình. Khi Đức Phật trả lời các câu hỏi, vị ấy nhận thấy các câu trả lời hoàn toàn giống với những câu trả lời do Kassapa đưa ra (Snp-a.i.231).
Sutta này xuất hiện cả trong Suttanipāta (pp.31-3) và trong Saṁyuttanikāya (i.213ff). Āḷavakasutta cũng được đưa vào bộ sưu tập Parittas.
