Pabbajjāsutta draft
Pabbajjāsutta. When Gotama, after leaving home, entered Giribbaja (Rājagaha) for alms, Bimbisāra saw him go and sent messengers to discover his whereabouts. They reported that Gotama was taking his meal under the shadow of the Paṇḍava pabbata. There Bimbisāra visited him and requested him to share his kingdom. Gotama told Bimbisāra of his antecedents, that he was a Sākyan of Kosala and had renounced all pleasures, seeing ill in them (Snp.vs.405-24).
Buddhaghosa explains that the Sutta was preached by Ānanda at Jetavana, because he desired to give an account of the renunciation of the Buddha, similar to that of Sāriputta and others (Snpa.ii.381). The Commentary adds (p.386) that at the end of the talk with the Buddha, Bimbisāra asked him to visit Rājagaha as soon as he had attained Awakening.
Pabbajjāsutta. Khi Gotama, sau khi rời nhà, bước vào Giribbaja (Rājagaha) để khất thực, Bimbisāra đã thấy ngài đi và cử các sứ giả để tìm ra tung tích của ngài. Họ báo cáo rằng Gotama đang dùng bữa dưới bóng của pabbata Paṇḍava. Tại đó, Bimbisāra đã đến thăm ngài và yêu cầu ngài chia sẻ vương quốc của mình. Buddhaghosa giải thích rằng Sutta này do Ānanda thuyết giảng tại Jetavana, bởi vì vị này mong muốn đưa ra một lời kể về sự xuất gia của Đức Phật, tương tự như của Sāriputta và những người khác (Snpa.ii.381). Chú giải nói thêm (p.386) rằng vào cuối cuộc trò chuyện với Đức Phật, Bimbisāra đã yêu cầu ngài đến thăm Rājagaha ngay khi ngài đạt được Giác ngộ.
